Ann began practicing yoga about 20 years ago as a means to stretch her body following long training runs. After retiring from the corporate world, she decided to pursue her yoga teacher certification to deepen her personal practice. She chose the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health because they teach an accessible type of Hatha Yoga that harmonizes body, mind, and spirit with breath. On the last day of training the instructor asked the class to spend time reflecting as to how they would use their yoga teacher certification for good in the world and Practice for a Purpose was born.
Ann approached her church, Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon, and they encouraged her to start a yoga ministry, which officially launched in February 2020. Over $25,000 has been donated to worthwhile organizations. In 2023 she received her 500-hour certification.
JeanEllen, a long-time member of Crossroads, has been avid about her yoga practice for the last 15 years. Always physically active, JeanEllen finds peace and calm in the way yoga connects the body, mind and spirit and is grateful to share her love of breath and movement with all.
